Introductory posts are the hardest, aren't they? It's more difficult online to establish a presence and invite people in. In person it's as simple as being polite and giving your name. "Hi, I'm Jackie. Nice to meet you!" But online you may come across as less polite, more aggressive, less educated or any other attributes you may not actually be, all based on your writing style. They are still very important.
Well, let's get on with this, shall we? I am Jackie. I am going to be 30 pretty soon. I am married but have no children yet. I decided to start up a blog again. I'd had several back in college, but I was not patient enough to maintain them. There are always so many topics I would like to write about that I could never decide on one thing or another, so I won't decide on any.
It's after Christmas right now, so my focus at the beginning will probably be finances. My husband and I are starting a Financial Fast for at least 6 months. Maybe the entire year. A Financial Fast is explained at andthenwesaved.com, but the goal is to buy only things you need, not want. Now that means I won't get the Tiffany's necklace I've been looking at for a while, but I don't need it, do I? The goal is to learn to want less anyway. Maybe later I'll post our list of needs and wants.
On top of that, we are wedding planning. My husband and I have been married for almost five years, but we did not have a ceremony with our friends and family. We weren't even in the same place for our wedding! While it isn't necessary, it's something I want to do for my family. I want their tacit blessing and a big party so we can all celebrate together! This was decided before the Financial Fast, so we'll see how that works out. The wedding itself is a want, but we're already on the way, so maybe I'll see where I can limit my costs.
Beyond finances and wedding talk, there will probably be random posts. Fitness, worries, pets, musings and frustrations. It will let me practice writing because I've always wanted to do more of that anyway. I believe this ends my introduction. I may not be too interesting to you now, but that's fine. We've just met. You'll learn more about me as we go along.
Leave me a comment and introduce yourself to me!
